OK so no, it didn’t do it this time either. It says ‘Error opening directory ‘/usr’: Permission denied’ If I try to back up, and go to usr to look for more likely files it won’t let me. If I click browse, it takes me to usr/lib but there’s nothing there that looks like it’s OpenOffice. So OK, let’s try a manual connection, The connection it suggests (/usr/lib/libreoffice) doesn’t work obviously.

Autodetection fails with the error message ‘Not on FX application thread currentThread = pool-3-thread-3’ I’m opening my document and then opening JabRef. I was hoping that since it was all automated they would connect smoothly.

I installed Apache OpenOffice and JabRef through Ubuntu, using the little orange suitcase with the letter A. So far, I’m very happy, but there are still some challengse. My old PC died horribly last month and I couldn’t afford to replace the mobo/psu and the commercial software, so I tentatively dipped my toes into the world of opensource and moved to Ubuntu. And if I compare the startup times of both dialogs the run macro takes more time.Hello! I see there are earlier comments on this but they’re three years old and on Windows. Haven't tested this but I remember from some older threads, that the Organize dialog is not implemented with the Java Window toolkit, but with a plain C++ toolkit. Don't use "Tools - Macros - Run", but "Tools - Macros - Organize Macros" instead. If you only want to run the macros, there is a workaround though. I think I remember that 1.4 had the waving Java "whatever it is" while JRE 1.5 has the coffee cup as icon. I get the same error message as you, no matter if I select the directory directly or the bin or lib subfolder.īut for this Java version I don't find a Control Panel item, either.

Now, as I have inspected this closer I see that I have still a C:\Program Files\Java\j2re1.4.2_15 directory, but it is not recognized by OOo. Other Java applications are okay? Mozilla plugin in Firefox?Ĭan you see and open the Java Control Panel? I have no idea where your problem might come from. I used to run 1.4.2_15 with OOo 2.4 for a longtime. OOo is normally tolerant about the version of the runtime.
